Architect Steve Smyers and his colleague Patrick Andrews reimagined the former Columbian Club to create Maridoe Golf Club, just outside Dallas. This transformation was so successful that it placed third in Golf Digest’s 2018 list of the Best New Courses. Smyers’ layout is a formidable challenge for the world’s top golfers, stretching a massive 7,800 yards from the back tees. The design features strategically shaved areas around undulating greens, enticing skilled players to adopt bold strategies off the tee. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maridoe hosted charity exhibition tournaments, raising funds for the club’s charitable initiatives.
